Echo Steps out for Spring
2002 Scarf Collection
(New York - January 2002) For 2002, Spring is no shrinking violet.
From the showrooms of New York to the runways of Paris and Milan,
the trend compass is pointing in one direction: pretty, feminine
clothes with a bold streak of individuality. This season, women
can pick from new takes on preppy classics, vintage-inspired ladylike
dresses or the romance of the West, with its soft ruffled blouses
and sweeping skirts. And nothing makes a look more personal than
an Echo accessory.
The new femininity is soft, fluid and easy,
like
an Echo scarf. Working it into the spring wardrobe is as simple
as wrapping a sheer flower print square under a crisp shirt,
or winding one of the new bold geometric prints around the waist
of
a denim
skirt. Echo's right-on-the-trend designs are more versatile
than ever as women look to liven their spring wardrobes without breaking
the bank. "Women love accessories right now," said Lynn Roberts, Vice President of Advertising and Public Relations for Echo. "Individuality is the key to spring fashion, and accessories add versatility and flair to everyday dressing."
Peace, Love and Paisley
Who isn't in love with the luxurious ease and sensuous feeling
of hippie chic? Today's bohemian is a lot more pulled together
than
her Sixties
inspiration though; think modern nomad, not barefoot in the park.
Nothing could be more appealing for spring than a simple drawstring
top, a fluid peasant skirt or easy pajama pants, paired with
a chunky leather bag or a hip-slung braided belt. Wrap an abstract
butterfly
print scarf around your head to express your inner gypsy, or
fold
a printed square into a triangle, wrap it around a denim skirt
and throw on a pair of high-heeled boots to add a free-spirited
touch to your day. Grab flip-flops and a paisley pareo for an easy,
carefree
day at the beach.
Bold Stripes and Bright Stars
There's a reason simple graphics never go out of style; their
message is unmistakable. And this spring especially, everyone's
favorite graphic design is the most powerful: red, white and
blue. Knot
a
flag-inspired scarf around the handle of your favorite bag
and
let those true-blue colors snap in the breeze. But don't forget
the other
hues. Take the simplest of outfits - a navy T-shirt and slim-cut
pants - add a bright bar-graph scarf in juicy citrus hues
and feel the energy surge.
White
The simplest color makes the biggest impact this spring.
Whether it was a romantic ruffled shirt, a rough-edged leather
jacket
or the
simplest pared-down trench, white was on every runway. It
can be sophisticated, innocent or romantic; white goes anywhere
you
want.
A man-tailored white oxford shirt paired with full-leg trousers
looks perfectly pulled together with a lace-printed scarf around
the neck.
Boost the romance of a floaty chiffon skirt or sheer beaded
top by tying a silk chiffon scarf at the waist. Make a plain white
coat into a high-impact look with a dramatic print wrapped
under the
collar
or knotted as a belt.
Spanish Style
Ready to kick up your heels and salsa through the season?
Sexy, Spanish style will add spice to your nights - a luxurious
ruffle
in scarlet
red over a daring dress - sure to make you dance the night away. Add flair to your every 'day' wear with a delicate embroidered fringed triangle over a peasant cotton dress.
Beach Comber
Even if there's still a foot of snow on the ground and ice
on the sidewalk, just saying the word "spring" brings
brighter thoughts of warm temperatures and blue skies. And
even if you can't quite walk outside in your slingbacks yet,
it's
never too
early
to get some
tropical temperatures into your wardrobe (think of it as a
dose of vitamin C for your closet). Tuck a swath of shell-printed
silk twill
in tones
of coral, turquoise and lemon underneath your jacket to get
into
the spring
frame of mind early, or make a flirty-floral silk square the
centerpiece of a simple outfit. Who cares if there's still
a chill in the air?
Put some Echo in your life everyday.
Jeans. Make your favorite denims hippie-hip with a sunflower-printed
Echo scarf as a belt.
A crisp white shirt. Knot a brightly-striped
silk scarf
at the neck and let the ends flutter in the breeze to
give an old classic new drama.
The A-line skirt. Give a plain skirt new verve by
slinging a geometric-printed Echo scarf around the
hips.
On holiday. A feather-light
washed silk
print can be a beach pareo or halter top by day,
an evening wrap by night.
Echo style goes far beyond just scarves and rainwear.
The Echo brand encompasses products such as cold weather
scarves, wraps,
gloves
and hats, home fabrics
and wallcoverings, bed and bath products, and stationery
items.
